Locations - architecture - Tom Fletcher

I have always found buildings and architecture fascinating. Different angles and lighting can totally alter the building which is why I love experimenting with colour. I love the effect black and white has on a photograph. I altered my own image of the Eiffel Tower to black and white and I like the cloudy effect it creates.
I recently visited Paris and Madrid which are both cities full of intreguing architecture and building work. I was also lucky enough to visit Barcelona which is one of my favourite cities. Every building, from a local shop to a museum, has intricate detail which is very interesting to photograph.
Tom Fletcher has taken many photographs of New York's architecture. I love all of his photgraphs; the way he uses lighting, colour and angles to create intruguing pieces. Some of his most inspirational photographs for my own work are shown above.

Locations - sunsets/sunrises - Derek Payne

I saw the image above, taken by Derek Payne, of a sunset and it inspired me to photograph my own sunsets and sunrises. I love the way he uses light and shadows and i especially love his sunsets at coastal locations. Therefore i have focused on sunsets at sea and i hav attempted to capture the sunset at interesting times which has produced fascinating colours and shadows.

Location - Snow scene - Stieglitz and Godwin

The two images above were taken by Fay Godwin. I have tried to capture strong lines within my photographs as she has done in her images.

I was inspired by Alfred Stieglitz and Fay Godwin to photograph a variety of snow scenes on a recent skiing holiday to the French Alps. Stieglitz and Godwin are very different photographers, using different techniques and styles, yet I find both of their images quite captivating so I decided to use aspects from each of their work. I like the snow scene Alfred Stieglitz captures in a certain image and the strong lines formed by roadways and rivers in a number of Fay's photographs. I have attempted to use the same ideas within my own work. Their images are shown above.

Location - Beach - Darian Day

I will begin my study of Locations by photographying a variety of locations before i decide which location I would like to focus on towards the end of my project. I have begun by photographing coastal locations and seaside scenes. I like the emotions within these types of locations and I think I can create some creative effects.
I really love these images. I took them whilst I was on holiday in Spain. I love the brightness of the images and how I have used light. I saw an image taken by Darian Day of a rusted boat on the water. It inspired me to photograph seaside scenes close to the water.
