Locations - with emotion

I have decided to look at locations with a lot of emotion. For example, Cemeteries and Graveyards have a lot of emotion. They tend to be quite eerie places and some, when photographed, look very spine-chilling. So, i have decided to photograph these locations. Two examples of my images are shown below

Amanda Norman has a series of Graveyard images which I particularly like. I like the way she has used black and white. It adds to the mysterious effect. Amanda Norman inspired me to alter the colours in my own photographs for a similar effect.
The photographs taken by Amanda Norman which I particular like are shown below.

Location - Jonathan Metz

Looking at Jonathan Metz's work inspired me to photograph more structural images of my own. I have based my new photographs on one of his images in particular. I love how it is photographed from high up so the buildings form strong lines throughout the image. I have attempted this myself in the photographs below.

I really like how the black and white effect has altered this image. Before, it did not look very interesting, but the black and white has highlighted small things that would have not been noticed previously and makes the road look darker making it the main focus; this makes the eye travel all the way through the photograph.

Location - structure

I am, and always have been intrigued by very structural photographs. I like the interesting angles that can be created by an image that is split into different sections by various methods such as the outline of buildings or the path of a river. I have taken my own photographs which I find very interesting through their structural aspects. These are shown below:

Whilst exploring structural photography, I stumbled across a photograph taken by Jonathan Metz. It is a very structural image of a view over a small village. I looked into Jonathan Metz and discovered a whole series of photographs based on structural photography. Below shows some of his images. They all photograph very different locations. Some are birds eye views, whilst others photograph a particular part of a location. However the structural aspects of each one makes them very interesting and relates them to each other.

Rural and Urban Environments - Mark Raymond Mason

Above are two of Mark Raymond Mason's Rural images. They are typical images of woodland which are throughout rural locations. He has also taken a number of images which are not typical photographs but they are representations of rural environments. Two of these are shown below

Mark Raymond Mason has also taken a series of images based on Urban environments. They are not typical Urban images but they do represent components of Urban locations.

These are shown below.

Locations - Urban Environments

I have always been interested in the contrasts between urban and rural environments so I have decided to photograph various locations in each environment. I love the busy atmosphere surrounding urban locations but photographing the peaceful countryside and calm rural environments was so inspiring.

My photographs of Urban locations are shown below. I have photographed these locations in the centre of London and Barcelona. I like the way the Rural and Urban environments are so different but both photograph well and have different sructures. However the architecture within Urban locations and landscapes that form Rural locations produce similar shapes which help make interesting comparisons between the two.

Locations - Rural Environments

I like nature and the environment and how it contrasts with busy city life. Above are my images of rural environments. Mark Raymond Mason has taken a lot of images of both urban and rural environments. I love his work and I will be taking more images based on the contrasts between rural and urban surroundings.

Locations - harbour - Ersin Taser

I have always loved being close to the sea, as i have lived close to the coast my whole life. Therefore when i saw a series of photographs by Ersin Taser I was inspired to photograph my own harbour images (these are shown below). The images by Ersin Taser capture Kyrenia Harbour in Cyprus. I love the way light is used and the reflections into the water. Ersin Taser's images are shown above:

Locations - Beach - Declan McCullagh

I have always enjoyed visiting different beaches and walking on different sands. I also feel that beach scenes can be very interesting to photograph. I recently went on holiday to Spain where the beaches were so clean and serene and very inspirational. I then saw some of Declan McCullagh's images of a beach and footprints in the sand. I feel that they relate well to my own photographs (shown below). Declan McCullagh's images are shown above.

Location - Cliffs

I saw the photograph above, taken by Declan McCullagh, of cliffs at a small private beach which inspired me to photograph the images below. I have always been intrigued by rock formations and cliffs so i really enjoyed photographing them. I like how the different layers in the rock forms different shapes and light adds tone and different colours to the rock.

Locations - architecture - Tom Fletcher

I have always found buildings and architecture fascinating. Different angles and lighting can totally alter the building which is why I love experimenting with colour. I love the effect black and white has on a photograph. I altered my own image of the Eiffel Tower to black and white and I like the cloudy effect it creates.
I recently visited Paris and Madrid which are both cities full of intreguing architecture and building work. I was also lucky enough to visit Barcelona which is one of my favourite cities. Every building, from a local shop to a museum, has intricate detail which is very interesting to photograph.
Tom Fletcher has taken many photographs of New York's architecture. I love all of his photgraphs; the way he uses lighting, colour and angles to create intruguing pieces. Some of his most inspirational photographs for my own work are shown above.
